- Do not defy the wishes of Staff members. Doing so can and will get you a warning. If you think a member of Staff has done something wrong, PM FlySkyHigh22 or tubafishy .
- Do not upload our torrents to other trackers - see the FAQ for details. However, once you have downloaded a file from MGM, it is yours to do with as you please - but you will need to create a NEW torrent file to be able to share it at other sites. The file uploaded to MGM will not work elsewhere, and attempting to share it will get you in trouble. You will only get two warnings. After that, you will be banned.
- When asking for help, you may get help from our First Line Supporters. They are here to help you with any kind of general site questions. Alternatively, contact the staff by sending a message to the StaffBox with any kind of problem - like deleting a torrent, a comment on a torrent, a forum post, or reporting a user. Please remember to add a link to the problem/issue you are referring to.
Important!!!
- Do NOT under any circumstances create a second account. If you've got problems with your exsisting one, join our IRC channel for help. Note: If you feel you have special circumstances where you need more than one account per household, then please let us know ahead of time and we may be convinced to make arrangements.
- At the bottom of each torrent page, there is a link to "Add a comment" to the torrent. This feature is provided for you to express your appreciation for the uploader's efforts. While a simple 'Thank you' is always appreciated, an even better comment would be something more personal, like why you liked it, or how it helped you - something that will allow others to help decide if they also want this torrent. What is NOT appropriate is: requests for reseeds, negative comments such as 'uploader speed too slow', and basically anything else that doesn't help others. If you have a problem, or you need a reseed, send a PM to the original uploader. If that does not alleviate the problem, contact one of our staff. The original uploaders do not always go back and look at the comments on each of their torrents, so leaving a message there for the uploader is not only against the rules, it is useless and does nothing for the site.

- Access to the newest torrents is conditional on a good ratio. (See the FAQ for details.)
- Low ratios may result in severe consequences, and in extreme cases, banning.

- No aggressive behaviour or flaming in the forums.
- No trashing of other peoples topics (i.e. spamming).
- No language other than English in the forums.
- No swearing on this site. Doing so can and will get you a warning.
- No links to warez or crack sites in the forums.
- No requesting or posting of serials, CD keys, passwords or cracks in the forums.
- No bumping threads (All bumped threads will be deleted.)
- No images larger than 800x600, and preferably web-optimized.
- No double posting. If you wish to post again, and yours is the last post in the thread please use the EDIT function, instead of posting a double.
- Please ensure all topics are posted in the correct section. Mistakes will naturally happen, just please notify us by using the StaffBox and notify us.

If you use one, a good avatar is a must! Musical or music related images, stuffed animals, pets, cartoon characters, etc. are preferred. Examples of things which are not acceptable: exploitative pictures of women, pictures of you and/or your partner, gory images, partial/total nudity or references to illegal drugs.
- The allowed formats are .gif, .jpg and .png.
- Be considerate. Resize your images to a width of 150 px and a size of no more than 150 KB. (Browsers will rescale them anyway: smaller images will be expanded and will not look good; larger images will just waste bandwidth and CPU cycles.)
- Do not use potentially offensive material involving porn, religious material, animal/human cruelty or ideologically charged images.
Mods have wide discretion on what is acceptable. If in doubt, PM one. The STAFF members might also without notification remove your avatar if it is inappropriate! |

GENERAL GUIDELINES
TORRENT DESCRIPTIONS
A descriptive torrent description is a must when uploading a torrent. A good description for your upload is important because at the very least it gives our members a rough idea what they are grabbing, but if done well it can be a good advertisement for your torrent and, like all good advertisements, you get greater returns for your efforts.
UNACCEPTABLE FILE FORMATS
- Compressed File Formats - .rar, .zip, .iso, etc.
- Unnecessary File Formats - .par, .sfv, padding files, erroneous .nfo or .jpeg files, etc.
- Executable File Formats - .exe, etc.
TORRENT NAMING
Although there will always be exceptions to these rules, you should follow the naming conventions below wherever possible. For formats not described below, use your common sense.
Naming of Music-Related Torrents
The torrent name format must be as follows:
Composer's Name - Title of Piece
Although not required, you could add extra information to the title such as:
- Date of performance
- Location of performance
- Format e.g. AVI, PDF, MP3
Examples of good torrent names include:
Verdi - La Traviata - Royal Opera House (1994)
Charles Ives - Unanswered Question
Steve Reich - Electric Counterpoint - Score and MP3
Naming of Audiobook and eBook Torrents
The torrent name format must be as follows:
Author - Title of Book
If the book is abridged, you MUST include the tag ‘Abr’ or ‘Abridged’ in the name.
Although not required, you could add extra information to the title such as:
- Bitrate
- Date of publication
- Name of reader
- Format e.g. PDF, LIT

Robert Ludlum - The Ambler Warning - 2005 - read by Scott Sowers - 96 kbs
James A Michener - Hawaii – Abridged
For Dummies Ebooks Collection - PDF
 For security reasons Please make sure that you have private tracker marked when you create torrent file(s) to upload here. Once you upload a torrent, you must redownload it to enable your passkey and begin seeding.
SPECIFIC MUSIC TORRENT CATEGORY GUIDELINES:
Sheet Music:
Must be in the PDF format. If uploaded sheet music is not PDF, it belongs in the “All other Formats” section. Any accompanying mp3’s MUST be 128 kbps or higher. All other audio formats belong in the “All other Formats” section.
Individual Sheet:
Use when uploading a single sheet without anything else.
Single Sheet and MP3:
Same as “individual sheet,” but used when an mp3 is uploaded as well.
Sheet Collection:
Use when uploading many sheets in the same torrent. The sheets must be related somehow (example: by composer or style)
Sheet Collection and MP3:
Same as “sheet collection,” but used when an mp3 is uploaded with the sheets.
Guitar/Bass Tabs:
Use when uploading tabs. They may be accompanied by an mp3 of the song.
Music Book(s):
A book related to music - may be a theory book, a method book, fakebook, or an inspirational music novel
Music Book MP3:
Same as “Music Book” but used when mp3s are included.
Personal Composition:
Upload here if you want to share original music. It may be shared as PDF sheet music, MP3 audio, or video, or any combination of the three.
MISCELLANEOUS MUSIC UPLOADS
Video
Must be a video that is directly related to music - documentaries, reality television, etc. Videos MUST be AVI, Mpeg, Xvid, or DivX formats.
Concert Videos:
Use when uploading a live concert video. Must follow standard video rules.
Complete Editions:
Use when uploading a complete mp3 collection of a classical composers’ works. Non-classical works are not allowed in this section. Bitrates must be at least 128kbps. Standard audio rules apply.
Personal Performance:
Use when sharing a video and/or mp3 of yourself performing a piece you did NOT compose.
Instructional Media:
Any reference or instructional materials. This does NOT include software.
Not Allowed
- Educational Music Software
- Mp3 without the accompanying sheet music
- Application software, e.g. Sibelius, Finale, Garritan, CakeWalk, Cubase, GuitarPro
- Executable Files (.exe)
AUDIOBOOK AND E-BOOK RULES
- Any kind of book is allowed, with the exception of pornography.
- Include a good description which provides a summary of the book(s) included.
- State in the torrent description if the book is abridged.
- Permitted eBook formats are TXT, LIT, HTML, PDF & RTF. For other file types, contact a staff member before posting
- If the Audiobook format is something OTHER than MP3 (e.g. OGG, M4A, WMA, M4B), include this in the torrent title. Most types of audio formats are permitted (with the exception of LOSSLESS files e.g. FLAC, APE), but the material must not be subject to DRM.
- No compressed files are allowed, e.g. .rar, .zip.
- Name the torrent correctly - see the Torrent Naming section for detailed information.
- Duplicates of books already uploaded are allowed ONLY if contained within a collection OR if they are in a different format OR, for audiobooks, at a higher bitrate.
- Comedy albums or recordings of stand-up comedy acts are not allowed to be uploaded on the site - books by comedians or about comedians are, of course, allowed.
The site or the staff cannot be held responsible for the files/material in the "All Other Formats" torrent category. Downloading these files is at the user's risk. Some formats in there are not standard, and the staff members will NOT answer to any questions regarding the format/coding/how to listen - watch these files! |
